At Barclays Café, our objective is to provide a delightful location to relax and enjoy the opportunity to meet with friends, business colleagues or clients. We aim to provide a wide range of products, offering quality food, coffee and beverages, a pleasant atmosphere and friendly, attentive service.

Our staff are enthusiastic and approachable and we welcome any suggestions or comments, with the ultimate aim to provide you with the very best in food, beverages and service.

At Barclays Cafe we have undertaken a number of initiatives that will not only benefit the surrounding community, but also benefit others all over the world:

• Barclays Cafe only use FAIRTRADE* labelled top-quality organic coffee and for the House coffee we have used the Fairtrade blend of labelled Billy Dunne named in honour of W D Bennet a coffee broker who introduced FAIRTRADE coffee beans into Australia first. W D Bennett was also a long time resident of Heathmont. The Yirgacheffe Ethiopian (World Vision) coffee which is both organic and FAIRTRADE is also available. A report on Yirgacheffe was published in The Age Epicure Tuesday 17th April, 2007.

At present the House coffee is Peru Feminino which is produced by Womens only Cooperative. 50 cents from every kilogram sold in addition to the FAIRTRADE premium goes directly to assist the women growers in Peru.

• Since the first day of operation, all tips received have gone towards sponsoring a child through World Vision and Compassion. Thanks to a fantastic response from our customers and staff, this support has grown immensely and we now sponsor seven children.

*Our choice of FAIRTRADE coffee brand is a decision based on ethics rather than economy, only slightly altering the purchase price of our coffee. Coffee Growers in countries such as Timor, Mexico, Ethiopia, PNG, Nicaragua and Peru are greatly benefiting from our use of FAIRTRADE. FAIRTRADE coffee guarantees that farmers receive a fair price for their coffee, unlike a lot of other companies that exploit poorer nations. Not only is FAIRTRADE high quality internationally recognised coffee, it also gives us the opportunity to be ethical consumers and make a real difference in peoples lives.
